What's new?

A big part of this deliverable was focused on making the game look better and work better, in terms of small hiccups and bugs. We added in animations for 45 degree angle walking, idle animations, added music that gelled better with the theme of the game, added in some additional cutscenes to give more story and lore, removed unneeded toasts, made it so ghosts no longer got stuck inside rooms they went inside, and added in a final boss type character to make the last level more difficult.


Motivation?

There were several reasons we made the above changes. First, we changed up the music because a lot of people disliked what we had before, saying it didn’t quite fit with the rest of the game. We wanted to give more of a polished look, so we added in diagonal walking sprites and idle animations. We realized that a lot of players ignored the toasts or were annoyed by them, so we reduced them to the most important of information. We added more cutscenes to give more context and explain a few mechanics to avoid having toasts for them. In our last feedback, we were told that by the end of the game the ghosts were more of a nuisance than an enemy to be contended with. Because of this, we added in a larger, more intimidating ghost that could move faster than the smaller ones for the final scene.


What's next?

If we were to expand the game beyond this, we would likely try to add more content. We talked about having a level where you had to add books to a bookshelf to unlock more stuff inside of the house. It’s possible we could experiment with more enemies. We would definitely add talk sprites for each of the players in the cutscenes. We would add more sound effects as well. We talked about adding furniture that moves around on its own.
